Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients
  1. Beef , Top round steak 4-1/2 lbs
  2. Olive oil or veg oil 3 tbsp
  3. Onions, diced 1" x 1" 6 cups
  4. Black pepper 1-½ tsp
  5. Salt 1 tsp
  6. Thyme 1/2 tsp
  7. Garlic, granulated ¼ cup
  8. Water, hot 4-1/2 cups
  9. Beef base 6 tbsp
  10. Flour, A.P. 6 tbsp
  11. Water, cold 1-1/2 cup
  12. Worcestershire sauce 3 tbsp
  13. Mushrooms, fresh, sliced 4-1/2 cups
  14. Butter 3 tbsp
Instructions
  1. Saute beef in shortening using a sauce pot(that has a tight lid).
  2. Add onions and seasoning, cook about 5 minutes.
  3. Add beef base to hot water, mix well, add to beef. Simmer for 40 -45 minutes or until meat is tender.
  4. Mix flour water and Worcestershire sauce together until smooth. Add to beef while stirring and cook until thickened.
  5. Saute mushrooms in butter, set aside for later.
  6. In a one quart bowl temper sour cream , add to beef dish, add mushrooms.
  7. Simmer 5 minutes, DO NOT BOIL.
Notes
  1. Serve over garlic egg noodles, plain noodles or rice.
