Brown onion gravy

In this recipe we caramelize the onions to give it a rich and sweet onion flavor.

Ingredients
- Butter 6 Tbsp
- Flour, A.P. 4 tbsp
- Water 2 cups
- Beef Base 2 tsp
- Onions, medium fine diced 1 cup
- Black pepper 1/8 tsp
Instructions
- Melt butter, add onions, over medium heat cook the onions until the turn a rich brown color. (This will take about 4-5 minutes)
- Add flour and black pepper and stir well, cook for about 1 minute. Dissolve beef base in water. Add to the flour and butter mixture. Stir well; allow to to come to a light boil; reduce heat. and let simmer 5 - 10 minutes, before plating.

Thanks for the question! Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes before placing in a bowl. I have also added this information on the recipe.
Hi Chef Dave.Wonder what is beef base?i can not find beef base in Indonesia.
If you can’t find beef base, you may be able to find beef broth in a box or can. If using beef stock, this will be used as you water and beef base. If not able to get beef stock either, you can cook off a beef roast, save the drippings and add enough water that you will need for the recipe.
