
BBQ Turkey (Carolina Style)

This is a popular recipe in the Carolinas. Made and taste very similar to Carolina BBQ pork! Please check out this video " BBQ Turkey"

Ingredients
- 1 10-12 lb Turkey, thawed
- 1 tsp GROUND RED PEPPER
- 1 Tbsp SALT
- 1 tsp PEPPER
- 1 ea Turkey size baking bag
- Sauce
- 1 quart APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
- 2 tsp ground red pepper or 1/4 cup hot sauce
- 2 tsp BLACK PEPPER
- 1 tsp CRUSHED RED PEPPER
- 1 Tbsp SALT
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients for sauce in 2 quart sauce pan. bring to a boil; reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes.
- Wash turkey, dry outside with paper towel.
- Combine salt pepper and red pepper. Sprinkle on turkey. Place in prepared turkey size baking bag. Ladle about 3/4 cup of sauce over turkey. Tie up the turkey in the bag. (You will need a pan big enough that the turkey and the bag can fit without hanging over.
- Bake at 325F for 4 ours or until the breast cavity pushed down easy.
- Let stand 10 minutes; remove the turkey to another pan. Drain the turkey broth into a dish. Degrease the broth.
- Allow the turkey to cool for about 15 more minutes. pick by hand and shred into pieces. When the turkey is completely pulled; add some sauce and broth. Adjust flavor as needed.
