Rice cooked with a flavored broth, with onions and sometimes
celery. Can contain diced meat or firm vegetables. Chicken
broth is the most popular broth used. The French are known for
preparing “rice pilaf” which the American population has
adopted and prepares quite often. Other names pilau, pilav,
perlowe, perloo, pilaw, other countries use other name for their
variations.
