Ingredients
  1. 1 CUP SHORTENING
  2. 1 CUP BROWN SUGAR
  3. 1/2 CUP SUGAR
  4. 2 TSP VANILLA
  5. 2 LG EGGS
  6. 2 1/4 CUP FLOUR
  7. 1 TSP BAKING SODA
  8. 1 TSP SALT
  9. 1 1/2 CUPS CHOCOLATE CHIPS
  10. 1 CUP PECANS OPTIONAL
Instructions
  1. MIX TOGETHER SHORTENING AND SUGAR UNTIL CREAMY.
  2. BEAT IN VANILLA AND EGGS.
  3. ADD DRY INGREDIENTS.
  4. BAKE IN PREHEATED OVEN (AT 350°F.) FOR 8-10 MINUTES.
Notes
  1. CHEF DAVE SAYS: DO NOT OVER BAKE.
  2. A VERY COMMON MISTAKE WHEN MAKING CHEWY COOKIES IS BAKING THE COOKIES TOO LONG. YOU WANT TO TAKE THE COOKIE OUT JUST BEFORE THEY OBTAIN THE DESIRED COLOR. THE COOKIES WILL CONTINUE TO COOK AFTER THEY COME OUT OF THE OVEN.
