Ingredients
- 1 CUP MARGARINE OR BUTTER
- 2 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
- 2 CUPS BROWN SUGAR
- 2 LG EGGS
- 4 TSP VANILLA DIVIDED
- 1 TSP BAKING SODA
- 3 CUPS QUICK ROLLED OATS
- 1 1/2 CUPS SEMI SWEET CHOCOLATE PIECES
- 1 14 OZ CAN SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK
- 1/2 CUPS NUTS CHOPPED
- 2 TBSP BUTTER
Instructions
- BEAT 1 CUP BUTTER ON MED-HIGH SPEED FOR 30 SECONDS.
- ADD HALF THE FLOUR, THE BROWN SUGAR, EGGS, 2 TSP VANILLA, AND THE BAKING SODA. BEAT UNTIL THOROUGHLY COMBINED.
- BEAT IN REMAINING FLOUR. STIR IN OATS. IN A MEDIUM SAUCEPAN, COMBINE CHOCOLATE CHIPS, MILK & 2 TBSP. BUTTER. COOK OVER LOW HEAT UNTIL CHOCOLATE MELTS, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY. REMOVE FROM HEAT. STIR IN NUTS AND 2 TSP. VANILLA.
- PRESS 2/3 OF THE ROLLED OATS MIXTURE INTO THE BOTTOM OF AN UNGREASED 15 X 10 X 1-INCH BAKING PAN. SPREAD CHOCOLATE MIXTURE OVER THE OAT MIXTURE. USING YOUR FINGERS, DOT REMAINING OAT MIXTURE OVER THE CHOCOLATE.
- BAKE AT 350 ABOUT 25 MINUTES OR UNTIL LIGHTLY BROWNED. (CHOCOLATE MIXTURE WILL STILL LOOK MOIST). COOL ON WIRE RACK.
