Chocolate Almond Slices

  1. Almonds, whole blanched 3/4 cup
  2. Butter or margarine, softened 1/2 cup
  3. Sugar 3/4 cup
  4. Egg 1 egg
  5. Flour 1-3/4 cup
  6. Cocoa 6 Tbsp.
  7. Baking powder 1/2 tsp.
  8. Salt 1/4 tsp.
  9. almonds, finely chopped 1/2 cup
  1. Grind almonds in electric blender, pulsing on and off. Cream butter with sugar; beat in egg. Mix almonds, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually mix into creamed mixture. Shape into rolls 1 ½-inch thick. Pat chopped almonds onto rolls to coat evenly. Chill. Slice and bake on lightly greased cookie sheets at 350 degrees, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
