Project Description
Known locally as the “Woodbooger,” the city erected the statue and Norton City Council designated the recreation area a “Woodbooger Sanctuary” following a visit by Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot TV show. In 2011, the show spent a week in Southwest Virginia filming an episode that features scenes from High Knob, as well as Washington County, Damascus, and Saltville.
Since then, the city has embraced this mythical creature, with local businesses selling “Woodbooger” merchandise and the establishment of the “Woodbooger Festival.” The festival is held each fall in Flag Rock Recreation Area. Visit the festival’s website for more information.
So a restaurant was created with the same Woodbooger name. We were traveling through the area in the spring of 2021 and looked up local restaurants. Just the name alone got my attention, had to check it out.
They offer a large menu select of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps burger and tacos. If you want a entrée they have a good section of those also. Their pasta and spuds menu is very inviting also.
They are know for their home cooking and items made from scratch.
Make sure you leave room for their very inviting list of homemade desserts.
I enjoyed a steak taco, Debbie had cheese quesadilla.
