Project Description

69 2nd St, Hume, IL 61932

Open daily 6am – 2pm,  opens at 7am on Sunday.

Some restaurants are just “cool” for the lack of better words. A small operation that offer breakfast and lunch. The restaurant was started by Mike who owns the auto repair garage next door. Mike partnered with Paula a relative of his. Paula did the cooking, Mike ran the garage and did the PR for the restaurant.  The idea can when Mike was getting tired of having to leave work and find some place to eat, often having to travel to other towns for lunch.  By opening the restaurant next door he could get a variety of meals and supply a need for a restaurant in his small town.  They opened in November of 2013 and haven’t turn back. The restaurant seats about 96 people and has a small banquet room with wifi that seats 30.

They have a very strong following of locals.  Many that eat with them several days a week.

The decor is all done it a auto garage theme, black and white checkered floors, red chairs with chrome tables tops, photos of cars and trucks on the walls.

Breakfast is served all day with a lot of local favorites, pancakes , French toast, skillets, eggs to order and omelets.

Most of there meals have names relating to the auto garage profession.

At lunch you can get fresh charbroiled burgers, assorted hot and cold sandwiches, hot home cooked  entrees, or order a side of their very popular freshly made onion rings, and cheese sticks.

Debbie and I ate here for breakfast.  Debbie has 2 eggs over easy, sausage and rye toast. I had their “spare parts” plate (home fries, 2 eggs over easy, topped with sausage gravy and cheese.

We both said that we wished we had this restaurant in our town.

We visited in early June 2019

Just as a last thought, the population of Hume, Il is 350, and the only restaurant in town.
